Working Hours & Shift Pattern
Full-time, permanent position.
Based in Sunningdale, SL5.

  • Monday to Friday working pattern
  • Shifts scheduled within standard nursery operating hours
  • No regular weekend work required
  • Breaks provided during working hours
  • Consistent schedule with some flexibility depending on nursery needs

Job Description
As a Toddler Room Leader, you will deliver high-quality early years education and childcare while taking responsibility for the daily leadership of a toddler room in Sunningdale. Working within a Montessori-inspired nursery, you will create engaging, child-led learning experiences in line with the EYFS, helping toddlers develop independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing through purposeful play. You will plan learning activities, monitor children's progress, maintain high safeguarding standards and provide guidance to junior practitioners. This Nursery Room Leader position combines hands-on early years practice with team leadership, family relationships and responsibility for maintaining a stimulating and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day running of the toddler room
  • Plan and deliver engaging, child-led activities and learning experiences aligned with the EYFS
  • Support, mentor and guide junior practitioners within the room
  • Monitor and assess children's learning and development, maintaining accurate records
  • Create a stimulating, inclusive and safe environment that supports toddlers' individual needs
  • Build positive and professional relationships with parents and carers
  • Promote positive behaviour, confidence, independence and emotional development
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, care, health and safety
  • Ensure practice meets Ofsted and relevant early years regulatory requirements
  • Work collaboratively with the wider nursery team and leadership

Essential Requirements

  • You must already have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this role.
  • Level 3 qualification in Early Years or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • Proven experience working within a toddler room or Room Leader position
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS, early years development and nursery practice
  • Ability to lead a room, plan engaging learning experiences and maintain high-quality childcare standards
  • Confident communicator who can build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues
  • Able to work independently, manage day-to-day room responsibilities and contribute effectively to the wider nursery team
