Nursery Room Leader – East Sheen, Greater London, SW14
Recruit by Nature is seeking an experienced Nursery Room Leader to join a caring and highly qualified early years team in East Sheen. This is an excellent opportunity to lead room practice and support children to play, learn and grow through high-quality care, purposeful activities and EYFS-guided learning.

Working Hours & Shift Pattern
The nursery is open from 7:30am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday, for 51 weeks of the year. The setting closes for one week between Christmas and New Year. Individual shift arrangements will be discussed during the recruitment process.

Job Description
As Nursery Room Leader, you will take responsibility for the daily organisation and delivery of high-quality care and learning within your room. You will lead and support practitioners, build strong relationships with children and families, and help create a safe, nurturing and stimulating EYFS environment.

The East Sheen setting provides enriching indoor and outdoor spaces, a home-from-home atmosphere and a holistic approach to early years learning. You will support child-centred activities, curiosity, creativity and children’s progress through play and exploration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the nursery room
  • Provide warm, responsive and attentive care for children
  • Plan and deliver purposeful, child-centred learning activities
  • Support children’s development in line with the EYFS framework
  • Observe, assess and record children’s progress accurately
  • Lead, motivate and support practitioners within the room
  • Build positive relationships with parents, carers and colleagues
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities and outdoor learning
  • Maintain a safe, clean and stimulating learning environment
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety and nursery procedures

Essential Requirements

  • You must already have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this role.
  • You hold a relevant Level 3 early years or childcare qualification, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • You have relevant experience working in a nursery or early years setting.
  • You have previous experience leading a room or supervising nursery practitioners.
  • You can lead EYFS practice through purposeful play, observation and daily routines.
  • You are caring, reliable and able to communicate effectively with children, families and colleagues.
  • You can work independently, use initiative and take responsibility for the daily running of the room.
  • Also suitable for: Senior Nursery Practitioners, Third in Charges, Deputy Room Leaders, Nursery Room Managers, Baby Room Leaders, Toddler Room Leaders and Preschool Room Leaders.
