Job Description
As a Nursery Room Leader, you will deliver high-quality childcare and early years education while supporting the day-to-day running of a welcoming nursery room in Loughton, IG10. You will lead and encourage practitioners, support EYFS learning and development, maintain safeguarding and welfare standards, and help provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment for babies, toddlers and preschool children. The setting places a strong emphasis on play, creativity, curiosity, independence and child development.

This position is well suited to an experienced Early Years Educator, Senior Nursery Practitioner or room leader who understands Nursery (EYFS), preschool childcare and child-centred practice. You will combine hands-on work with children and room leadership, building positive relationships with families and colleagues while helping the team deliver consistent, engaging learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day running of a nursery room and support consistent high-quality practice
  • Support the delivery of engaging EYFS learning and development experiences
  • Provide guidance, encouragement and practical support to nursery practitioners
  • Maintain safeguarding, health, safety and welfare standards within the room
  • Encourage child-led learning, creative play and stimulating age-appropriate activities
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues
  • Monitor children's progress, development, wellbeing and individual needs
  • Maintain accurate observations, records and nursery documentation
  • Support compliance with nursery policies, procedures and EYFS standards
  • Work collaboratively with the wider nursery and childcare team

Essential Requirements

  • You must already have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this role.
  • Relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above
  • Previous experience as a Room Leader, Early Years Educator or within a senior nursery position
  • Strong experience within Nursery (EYFS), childcare and preschool environments
  • Ability to support safeguarding children, child development and effective EYFS delivery
  • Warm, professional and confident communication with children, families and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently while effectively leading and supporting a nursery room team
