Job Description
As a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist, you will be the lead Speech and Language Therapist for a specialist secondary-school placement in Eltham, London, SE9. You will take ownership of the school caseload while remaining connected to an experienced and supportive wider clinical team. The caseload primarily consists of verbal autistic secondary-aged students with complex communication needs. You will provide tailored assessment, intervention and practical communication strategies, focusing on social communication, emotional awareness and regulation, self-advocacy, functional communication, relationships and preparation for greater independence.
This school-based allied health role sits within a private education setting and includes private healthcare as part of the benefits package. You will collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Drama Therapists, dyslexia specialists, teachers, teaching assistants, SEND professionals and families to coordinate communication support across therapy, classroom learning and daily school life.
You will work within a wider therapy service that values collaborative assessment, practical communication strategies and supporting school staff and families to achieve meaningful outcomes. You will be encouraged to respect individual communication styles, build on each student’s strengths and adapt your clinical approach to their needs.
