Working Hours & Shift Pattern
Full-time, permanent and all year round
Egham, Surrey, TW20

  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Flexible shift patterns across the nursery’s opening hours
  • Applicants must be available for shifts between 7:30am and 6:00pm
  • This is an all-year-round position rather than a term-time-only role
  • You will lead the day-to-day operation of your room while working closely with the wider nursery team

Job Description
As a Room Leader, you will be responsible for creating a warm, stimulating and nurturing nursery room within an established childcare setting in Egham, Surrey, TW20. As the Nursery Room Leader, you will lead by example, supporting your team to deliver high-quality childcare and learning in line with the EYFS framework while ensuring every child feels safe, understood and encouraged to develop.
You will help shape purposeful learning through play, oversee individual observations and learning records, and build trusted relationships with parents and carers. The setting values emotional security, curiosity, independence and school readiness, making this an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to children’s early development within the nurseries & early years sector. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and support the practitioners working within your room
  • Deliver high-quality care and education in line with the EYFS framework
  • Plan, implement and evaluate purposeful, age-appropriate learning activities
  • Ensure each child’s individual needs, interests and developmental milestones are recognised and supported
  • Maintain accurate observations, assessments and individual learning journals
  • Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating environment that promotes confidence and independence
  • Build open and professional relationships with parents and carers through regular communication and progress updates
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and professional practice
  • Support effective room routines, transitions and the organisation of resources
  • Contribute to team meetings, nursery development and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • You must be able to demonstrate your right to work in the UK
  • A full and relevant Level 3 or higher qualification in Early Years Education, Childcare, CCLD or an equivalent UK-recognised qualification
  • Previous experience working within a nursery or early years setting, ideally with leadership or supervisory responsibility
  • Sound working knowledge of the EYFS framework, safeguarding standards and child development
  • Ability to lead a room, support colleagues, plan engaging activities and maintain accurate developmental records
  • A calm, positive and professional communicator who can build trusted relationships with children, families and colleagues
  • Confidence working independently, making day-to-day decisions and taking responsibility for standards within your room
