Working Hours & Shift Pattern
This Lead Psychologist role is offered on a part-time basis, working 22.5 hours per week, typically across three days. There is flexibility within the working pattern, with the potential to increase working days subject to service requirements. Working hours are primarily weekday-based, with no routine evening or weekend commitments.

Job Description
This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Lead Psychologist to take a senior clinical role within a specialist inpatient mental health setting (36 bed Acute Inpatient Private Hospital) in Exeter, Devon (EX1). You will provide clinical leadership for psychology services, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, person-centred psychological care. This role would suit a confident psychologist who enjoys leading services, working with complex presentations and contributing to positive clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in referral assessments and provide comprehensive psychological assessments
  • Deliver high-quality individual and group psychological interventions
  • Undertake diagnostic, cognitive and risk assessments using recognised frameworks
  • Formulate and implement evidence-based psychological care plans
  • Provide clinical leadership for psychology provision within the service
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Offer specialist consultation, advice and guidance to colleagues
  • Support staff through reflective practice and clinical supervision
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
  • Ensure practice aligns with professional standards, legislation and policies

Requirements

  • BPS-recognised psychology degree
  • Registered Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC
  • Right to work within the UK (no sponsorship available for this role)
  • Experience working within mental health or complex care settings
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based psychological practice
  • Experience supporting individuals with cognitive deficits or complex presentations
  • Confidence managing a specialist clinical caseload
  • Experience contributing to research, audits or service development
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills
  • Suitable for Lead Psychologist, Senior Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist or Practitioner Psychologist
